The CASA delegation to 2007 CSA Annual Meeting in Changsha

Dear Chinese American Society of Anesthesiology (CASA) members,

We are initiating organization of a delegation to participate in the Chinese Society of Anesthesiology (CSA) annual meeting of 2007. This meeting will be held in Sept. 2007, Changsha, Hunan Province, China. We are delighted to announce that the delegation will be co-headed by Drs. Yunping Li and Yanfu Shao. Dr. Li is a faculty in a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School and she was a graduate of Hunan Xiangya Medical University. CASA board believes that adding such an outstanding personal will effectively facilitate the communication between CSA and CASA delegation. Dr. Shao is a faculty of cardiothoracic anesthesia at Ohio State University. As the Chair of The International Affair Committee of CASA, he has organized and led CASA delegations that attended CSA annual meeting in 2005 and 2006.

The CASA Board Approval of the delegation to CSA annual meeting in 2005 requests that a member of the delegation must be a contributor or a presenter. He or she should prepare and submit one or more abstracts that are accepted by the annual meeting. This approval is still applied to the delegates of this year.

The requirement of abstracts can be found at Beijing Anesthesia Association's website: www.anesthesia.net.cn/zw. Please prepare one abstract with 1,200 to 1,400 words in English and submitted to Dr. Li at Yunpingli@yahoo.com and/or Dr Shao at shaoyf@pol.net, NO LATER than April 1, 2007. The deadline set by CSA for submitting all abstracts either from China or oversea has been changed to the end of April compared to that of end of May in the past few years. Therefore, we have to move faster. As usual, our abstracts will be reviewed, revised/finalized. Intensive diplomatic work will then be implicated including delivery of the final version of our abstracts to the members of Academic Executive Committee of CSA in Beijing and Hunan in early April, 2007. Those members will pre-review and approve our abstracts. Accordingly, your abstracts need to be sent to Drs. Li and Shao before April 2007.

The CASA delegations have been very successful in 2005 and 2006. We predict a successful and rewarding academic trip to China in 2007.

Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Shao at 614-783-6854.
Sincerely,

Guogang Chen, MD
President, CASA
