Dear CASA members and friends,
Happy Chinese New Year! As
Chinese Americans, we celebrate
two new years in a year. Isn't
it wonderful? Today is the first
day of the horse year in lunar
calendar. Also CASA is testing
to roll out monthly Newsletter
from today. This newsletter is
going to be the chat room of
CASA, where current trends in
anesthesia will be posted. It
will focus on updates, guideline
changes, controversy,
interesting cases in each
specialty, etc, but not limited
on those. You will see the first
topic in one of specialties in
next month's newsletter. Of
course, meetings will be part of
news definitely. We welcome all
members to participate in
chatting.
News in CASA:
CASA just made her first
amendment of the bylaws in the
past 11 years to improve her
efficiency and democracy of the
governance. Some committees and
chapters were changed due to the
future demands. It was approved
by 2013 term officers on January
14, 2014. Under guidance of the
new amendment of the bylaws, new
officers were nominated and then
elected on January 24, 2014. I
sincerely thank all 2013 term
officers for their hard work and
achievements. And also
congratulations to all 2014 term
officers for being in the team
(on board). I'd like to work
with all of you to move CASA
forward.

1. SCA (Society of
cardiovascular Anesthesia) the
36th conference will take place
in New Orleans from March 29 to
April 2, 2014. CASA will hold a
social gathering on March 29
(Saturday evening). If you are
interested in the gathering ,

2. CAA (Chinese Association of
Anesthesiologists) conference
will occur in Shanghai in April,
2014. Papers have been collected
and forwarded to the organizers
by Dr. Yun Xia and Lixin Liu.
3. CSA (Chinese Society of
Anesthesiology) annual meeting
will be held in Chengdu, China
in September, 2014. CASA is
always encouraging members to
participate. You may submit your
paper to CSA website by yourself
or send it to Dr. Jie Zhou
(Boston) who will coordinate the
process between CSA and you.

4. The news from east coast:
On the moment to greet Chinese
New Year, CASA members in east
coast hold its annual meeting in
China Pagoda restaurant on
January 25, 2014. Dr. Changzheng
