Cardiac arrhythmias have an estimated prevalence of 14.4 million patients in the United States. CIEDs, Cardiovascular implantable electronic devices are becoming common in our patient population.

All anesthesiologists should understand the perioperative implications of these devices. Drs. Jiapeng Huang(黄佳鹏) and Yong G. Peng (彭勇刚) present the updates of perioperative management of cardiovascular implantable electronic devices.

In Memory of Professor Dr. Philip Liu

(June 19, 1941- September 20, 2014)
　

CASA honorary member, Dr. Philip Liu, passed away in Boston on September 20, 2014. We all feel deeply saddened to hear of this. Dr. Liu was a outstanding Chinese American Anesthesiologist and supported CASA when CASA was born in 2003. He went to the most CASA gatherings during ASA annual meeting with his wife, professor Letty Liu. It is huge loss to his family and CASA. Many CASA members express their condolence to his family. Dr. Phil Liu’s Memorial Service:

A memorial service will be held at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church

(7 W. 55th St., New York, NY) on Sunday, October 5, 2014, at 3:00 PM.  Interment will take place at a later date in Honolulu, Hawaii.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a tax deductible contribution be made to: Dr. Philip Liu Fund for Medical Education, c/o Hawaii Community Foundation, 827 Fort Street Mall, Honolulu, HI 96813.

(1). The Night of CASA and Mindray (wechat link) will be held in New Orleans during ASA annual meeting

You will meet many anesthesiologists from North America, Asia, and Europe, etc. This is a good opportunity to communicate with anesthesiologists from your home country and other countries to promote your academic  and social exchanges.
