Dear members and friends,
I would like to extend my New Year’s greetings to all CASA members/friends and wish everyone good health and happiness. In the past 12 years, CASA has gone through dynamic and remarkable course and has made tremendous progress. What CASA has achieved today fully depends on our members’ and officers’ enthusiasm and efforts. I am glad to comment on that CASA’s missions had been well accomplished.
Needless to say, the year of 2014 was a fruitful year for CASA. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. David Tang (唐 越) for his outstanding work as the president of 2014, thank Dr. Henry Liu (刘 恒意) who hosted 2014 CASA event at ASA annual meeting in New Orleans, and thank all CASA members for their hard work and strong supports.
I am thrilled to see that CASA is building many new platforms to connect us domestically and internationally. I believe we can keep CASA moving forward in year of 2015.
I am expecting to working with everyone to make CASA even more extraordinary!

Clinical practice update
New concept in airway management is authored by Dr. Huafeng Wei (魏华锋), MD,
Graduated from Tongji Medical University in China; Associate professor,
University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Wei
invented a airway device named Supraglottic Jet Oxygenation and Ventilation

Introduction of a new honorary member
By the nomination of CASA member and the approval of CASA executive board, we
are so glad to announce that Dr. Ru-Rong Ji (纪如荣) as CASA honorary member for
the year of 2015. Dr. Ji graduated from Nanjing University, obtained his PhD
from Shanghai Institute of Physiology, trained in Beijing Medical University in
China, Karolinska in Sweden, and Johns hopkins University School of Medicine,
USA, published numerous papers in journals like Nature Medicine and Nature
NeuroScience. Current serves as distinguished professor, chief of pain research
at Duke University of School of medicine, NC, and associate editor of
Anesthesiology, Pain, and NeuroScience Bulletin; Editor-in-Chief of the Open
Pain Journal. Outstanding research award by Nature publishing group Sci Cafe and
Plenary lecture speaker at 14 World Congress of Pain, etc. Let’s welcome Dr. Ji
to be with CASA!
Members’ feedback
On CASA wechat platform, some members discussed the pain management in China. By
the invitation from editorial board, Dr. Yongjian Lin (林永健) visited in China not
long ago and provided some feedbacks about what he experienced regarding the

Meetings and Events
1. CASA PGA (PostGraduate
Assembly) in New York 2015, contributed from Dr. Lixin Liu, MD, PhD
The PGA is one of the largest anesthesia
conferences in the world and its 30 percent attendees are from outside US. The
thousands of anesthesiologists strolled around Time square where is the heart of
New York City. “The city that never sleeps”. I am glad to announce that CASA
has held successfully the PGA luncheon at Jing Chinese cuisine restaurant in New
York on Dec. 13, 2014. There are 28 members who attended the luncheon. Most of
the members came from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. The
atmosphere of the luncheon was warm and exciting. We all enjoyed this wonderful
opportunity to meet with old friends and new friends. Dr. Haifeng Zhou firstly
introduced three CASA honorary members: Dr. Fun-Sun Yao (Weill Cornell Medical
College, NY), Dr. Tong Joo (T.J) Gan (Chairman, Dept of Anesthesiology, Stony
Brook, NY) and Dr. Jeffrey Ngeow (Special Surgery Integrative Care Center, NY);
Secondly introduced the representatives from Mindray Company; Thirdly,
congratulated Dr. Honghui Fengas a new member of executive board of CASA in
2015.
Finally, I took that opportunity to thank Dr. David Tang for his work as a
president 2014 and thank all members for their participation in the past. I
specifically appreciated Zongyuan Hu’s
tremendous contribution to CASA newsletter of 2014. Zongyuan Hu received a
special gift which is from some CASA members.
As a tradition, we discussed and decided
to organize next annual meeting (CASA Tri-state) near Chinese New Year on Feb.7,
2015 in New Jersey. We warmly welcome all our CASA members coming. Happy New
