The 2012 Chinese American Society of Anesthesiologists (CASA) annual meeting
was held successfully at the Split Rock Resort and Golf Club in Lake
Harmony, PA on February 4, 2012. Dr. Liaoyang Xie, President, gave an
opening speech. Dajie Wang, MD. Director of Pain Management at Thomas
Jefferson University lectured about ¡°Interventional Management of Neck
Pain¡±. Jing Song, MD. Assistant Professor at Montefiore Medical Center of
Albert Einstein College of Medicine also presented her research study about
¡°Special application of Propofol for Cancer Pain Control¡±. The atmosphere of
the meeting was warm and energetic. About 70 people attended the meeting and
enjoyed this wonderful opportunity to connect with old friends and meet new
friends. It was a great success.
At this 2012 annual meeting, Dr. Changzheng Wang and Dr. Liaoyang Xie honored
Haifeng Zhou, MD,PhD, Guogang Chen, MD and Jiangzhong Sun, MD, PhD with Awards
of Appreciation. Thirteen worldwide famous anesthesiologists were also honored
as CASA honorary members. They are Zhiyi Zuo, MD, PhD, Lize Xiong, MD, PhD, Jin
Liu, MD, Yuguang Huang, MD, Shanglong Yao, MD, Weifeng Yu, MD, Buwei Yu, MD,
Frances F. Chung, MD, Vincent WS. Chan, MD, Tong J. Gan, MD, Cynthia S. Wong,
MD, Daqing Ma, MD, PhD and Spencer S. Liu, MD.
In the past ten years, CASA has gone through dynamic and remarkable changes
and has had tremendous improvement. What CACA has achieved today totally depends
on all our members and officers¡¯ enthusiasm and support. Dr. Jianzhong Sun and
Dr. Yanfu Shao (CASA board members) were unable to attend the meeting due to
oncall. The Board held a meeting and discussed CASA¡¯s vision and mission. The
new officers were elected at the Board meeting. They are: President-Liaoyang Xie,

Tang, MD, Secretary-Lixin Liu, MD, PhD, Assistant Secretary-Michael Li, MD,
