Congratulations to Dr. Ling Qun Hu

 Our heartiest congratulations to Dr. Hu Lingqun on winning the Teaching Recognition Awards (TRA) for Achievement in Education in 2011. We are all so proud of him.

Dr. Hu is the Chair of CASA Medical Mission Committee and an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. The 2011 International Anesthesia Research Society Teaching Recognition Award for Achievement in Education highlighted his 28-year medical career. Dr. Hu is an outstanding teacher with multiple awards accrued during his 10 years as an internist in China. After coming to America, he received the Golden Apple Award for anesthesia resident education at Northwestern University in 2003. He is the course director for the only comprehensive anesthesia machine workshop in the world that emphasizes patient safety, and was established in 2005 at Northwestern University. Dr. Hu believes a meaningful global medical education should result in a significant improvement in patient care and outcome. Thus, he developed "Operation Walk Chicago" Medical Missions to China, Ecuador, and India, as the anesthesia team leader. Also, he has founded and implemented the ¡°No Pain Labor N¡¯ Delivery¡± Medical Education Mission, which since 2008, has annually encouraged the Chinese obstetric and anesthesia communities to deliver safe effective neuraxial labor analgesia. In 2007, the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation granted him the Clinical Community Service Award. Dr. Hu has published more than 15 peer reviewed articles and book chapters, and four books for Chinese physicians and patients. He has been developing a web-based information system for his missions. Dr. Hu has invented an intravascular volume monitoring device, and has developed a bio-geometric model for predicting difficult airway with the Society for Airway Management research grant. His outside interests include quality family time, gardening, basketball, soccer, and traveling.
